Get Ready for Winter: Cervinia Ski Season Opening 2025 on October 26

As the summer heat slowly fades, skiers all around the world start counting the days — and there’s no better place to kick off the winter season than Cervinia.
The official Cervinia ski season opening 2025 has been confirmed for October 26, marking the beginning of an incredible eleven-month season of skiing and mountain adventures in the Cervino Ski Paradise.

For those who can’t wait to feel their skis glide on fresh snow again, this is the signal — it’s time to start planning your winter getaway!

A Season That Never Seems to End

Few places in the world can match Cervinia’s ski calendar. Opening in late October and running until early May, the resort offers one of the longest ski seasons in the Alps, thanks to the high altitude and access to the Plateau Rosa glacier at over 3,500 meters.
This unique advantage allows passionate skiers and snowboarders to enjoy perfect snow conditions even before most resorts open their lifts.

The official announcement from Cervino Ski Paradise confirms that lifts will start turning on October 26 for the 2025/26 winter season — an early start that promises a fantastic beginning to another record-breaking year for Italy’s most iconic high-altitude resort.

You can read the full news release directly from the official website here: https://www.cervinia.it/news/il-26-ottobre-aprono-gli-impianti-di-cervino-ski-paradise-undici-mesi-di-sci-e-divertimento-una-stagione-infinita

    Skipass Prices for Winter 2025/26

For those already planning their trip, skipass prices for the 2025/26 season have been officially published. Whether you’re coming for a weekend or a full week of skiing, Cervinia offers flexible options to suit every kind of skier — from local day passes to international tickets that include access to Zermatt in Switzerland.

You can check the complete list of updated ski pass tariffs here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mXQHehvBzR39FtN9t_5SFMKihn1bmam4/view

The connection between Cervinia and Zermatt remains one of the highlights of the area, giving visitors the chance to ski across two countries in a single day — Italy and Switzerland — with breathtaking scenery and perfectly groomed slopes on both sides of the border.

    Which Slopes Will Be Open?

At the moment, it’s still too early to confirm exactly which lifts and slopes will be open at the start of the season.
The Cervino Ski Paradise team is carefully monitoring snow conditions and upcoming precipitation, which will determine how many runs can be prepared for the opening weekend.

In recent years, early openings have featured skiing mainly on the Plateau Rosa glacier and runs connecting down toward Plan Maison, depending on weather and temperature conditions.

Stay tuned — I’ll keep you updated here on the blog and on my social channels as soon as official details are released.

Why October Is the Perfect Time to Ski Cervinia

Skiing in Cervinia at the end of October feels special. The atmosphere is quiet and exclusive, the air is crisp, and the excitement of the first turns of the season is unbeatable.
It’s also the perfect opportunity to test your gear, refresh your technique, or simply enjoy the peace of the mountains before the winter rush begins.

For many professionals and ski enthusiasts — myself included — this early opening is like the real start of winter. Whether you’re training, teaching, or simply skiing for fun, Cervinia’s early-season conditions are second to none.

Plan Ahead and Get in Touch

If you’re thinking about skiing early this year, now’s the time to book your accommodation and plan your trip. Cervinia can get busy during the opening weekend, especially with ski teams and enthusiasts eager to get back on the snow.

Whether you need help choosing where to stay, advice on ski passes, or information about transfers, rentals, or lessons, I’m always happy to help.

For any questions, feel free to email me at info@skiwithriky.com — I can help you organize your ski trip and make it unforgettable from the very first run of the season.

The countdown to winter has officially begun — see you in Cervinia on October 26!

Tips for Booking Your Luxury Hotel in La Thuile

    2. Choose rooms with mountain views—sunset or sunrise views over ridges or glaciers make mornings and evenings magical.
    3. Look for hotels that include wellness/spa in the package; sometimes a slightly more expensive room that includes spa access is better value than one that doesn’t.
    4. Check ski lift access or shuttle services, especially if weather or wind can affect lift operations.
    5. Consider the period: late February to April for longer daylight hours, better weather, while December-January offers cold, snowy magic but shorter days.

How to Pick the Best Luxury Hotel for You

To make sure your choice delivers, consider these:

    • Location: Do you want ski-in/ski-out access? How close to the lifts or village center?
    • Amenities: Spa, pools, design features, dining options—decide what matters most.
    • Atmosphere: Traditional and cozy vs modern and sleek. Do you want quiet or nightlife nearby?
    • Views & Scenery: Some hotels sit higher, offering sweeping views of the Matterhorn, while others are more tucked in.
    • Service & Extras: Shuttle service, spa treatments, ski-rental on site — these details add up.

Why Cervinia Luxury Hotels Stand Out

Cervinia is one of the “snow-sure” Alpine resorts (thanks to its high elevation), and luxury hotels here often combine alpine tradition with modern touches—wood, stone, large windows, cozy fireplaces, and gourmet food. Plus, compared to some resorts in Switzerland or France, you often get more value for luxury here. More comfort, more views, less extreme prices (though “luxury” always costs a premium).

Best Time to Book Your Luxury Stay

    • Book early: as soon as winter dates open, the top-hotels get booked fast.
    • Off-peak periods (just outside Christmas, New Year’s, Easter) can offer better deals and quieter hotels.
    • If you want sunshine + good snow + longer daylight, aim for late February to the end of April.
  • Valle d’Aosta Joins Ikon Pass: A Game-Changer for Skiers

Valle d’Aosta Joins Ikon Pass: A Game-Changer for Skiers

Good news is on the horizon for winter sports lovers: Valle d’Aosta joins Ikon Pass starting in the 2025-26 season, positioning the region among the most exclusive ski destinations in the world.

From next winter, five of the region’s most iconic ski areas—including Courmayeur Mont Blanc, Cervino Ski Paradise, La Thuile Espace San Bernardo, Monterosa Ski, and Pila—will welcome Ikon Pass holders. Full Impressions: holders of the full Ikon Pass get seven total days, while Ikon Base Pass holders receive five days—all with no blackout dates. stormskiing.com

    Why This Matters

Valle d’Aosta joins Ikon Pass marks a pivotal moment in its international ski tourism strategy. Previously, only European resorts like Dolomiti Superski and Zermatt were included. Now, with the “VdA” firmly on the map, skiers from North America and beyond can access the Italian Alps with unparalleled ease and prestige.

Among the five linked destinations, Cervino borders directly with Zermatt Matterhorn, and Courmayeur offers quick access to Chamonix via Mont Blanc tunnel—perfect for border-hopping adventures.

A Historic Step: Valle d’Aosta Joins Ikon Pass

With the official entry into Ikon Pass, Valle d’Aosta is making history. Starting from the 2025/26 season, the six most representative ski lift companies of the region – Cervino Ski Paradise, Courmayeur Mont Blanc Funivie, La Thuile Espace San Bernardo, Monterosa Ski, Pila, and Skyway Monte Bianco – will be accessible to holders of the world-famous international ski pass.

Ikon Pass, developed by Alterra Mountain Company in Denver (Colorado), currently includes 63 destinations across 11 countries and 5 continents. In Europe, until now, the network only featured top-tier ski areas such as Grandvalira, Kitzbühel, Ischgl, Chamonix Mont-Blanc Valley, Zermatt, St. Moritz, and Dolomiti Superski.

The entry of Valle d’Aosta therefore represents a true recognition of the work carried out in recent years by the local lift companies, who have invested heavily in modernization, sustainability, and services. This move not only positions the region among the world’s elite skiing destinations but also highlights Italy’s growing influence in the global ski tourism market.

What It Signals for the Region

Joining Ikon Pass is not just a marketing move—it’s economic dynamite. Previous European entries like Zermatt and Dolomiti Superski saw significant increases in tourism from U.S. skiers. That same potential now shines on Valle d’Aosta, showcasing its alpine charm, culinary heritage, and scenic magnificence to new global audiences.

    Final Thoughts

In short, Valle d’Aosta joins Ikon Pass is more than a partnership—it’s a bridge. It connects iconic Italian slopes with a premier global ski community. If you’ve ever dreamed of exploring Italian Alpine traditions while skirting across Swiss snow, this is your season.

  • Cervino The One Ski Lift: A Leap Into the Future of Cervinia

Cervino The One Ski Lift: A Leap Into the Future of Cervinia

Cervinia is preparing for a revolution in Alpine skiing with the launch of Cervino The One ski lift. Announced on August 22, this ambitious €200 million project will reshape the way skiers and visitors experience the Alps. The state-of-the-art 3S gondola will link Breuil-Cervinia to Plateau Rosa in only 17 minutes, cutting travel time by more than half compared to today’s 50 minutes.

Construction is expected to begin in spring 2026 and finish in 2030. Once completed, this futuristic lift will combine the efficiency of a cable car with the comfort of a gondola, featuring long spans, steep gradients, and cabins capable of carrying 30 passengers. The line will stretch for nearly six kilometers, with a total elevation gain of 1,427 meters.

    Capacity, Speed, and Comfort

Cervino The One ski lift has been designed with record-breaking performance in mind. With an hourly capacity of 3,000 passengers, wind stability up to 100 km/h, and speeds reaching 8 meters per second (around 29 km/h), it promises smooth and reliable transport even in challenging conditions.

The 56 Symphony model cabins will feature 360-degree panoramic windows, heated leather-style seating for 24 people, internal ski racks, anti-slip flooring, multimedia screens, and advanced communication systems. Everything has been planned to maximize comfort and safety for skiers traveling to the Plateau Rosa at 3,458 meters.

    A Sustainable and Secure Future

Sustainability is a cornerstone of the Cervino The One ski lift project. Thanks to DirectDrive motors, which run at just 33 rotations per minute, energy consumption will be reduced, while noise emissions will stay below 85 decibels — remarkable for an installation of this size.

On the safety side, the lift will include four independent drive systems (main, reserve, recovery, and emergency) as well as three braking systems, ensuring minimal risk of stoppages even during power outages.

    Stations and Infrastructure

The new lift will not only transform the ride but also the stations themselves. The base station at 2,031 meters will become a modern hub with ticket offices, rental services, shops, bars, and restaurants. The mid-station at Plan Maison (2,550 meters) will integrate with existing lifts and include restaurants, commercial areas, and even an underground automated warehouse for cabins and equipment.

At the top, the Plateau Rosa station (3,458 meters) will be carved into the rock, directly connecting with Switzerland’s Klein Matterhorn facilities, completed in 2023.

Architecturally, the project will blend stone, reinforced concrete, glass, and wood for a sleek yet natural finish, with zinc-titanium roofing and photovoltaic panels to generate clean energy.

The Investment Behind Cervino The One

The Cervino The One ski lift is backed by an investment of approximately €200 million. The Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta has already allocated €70 million, while Cervino Spa will cover the rest through self-financing, bank loans, and recent strong financial performance.

Construction will be led by Leitner, a leader in ropeway technology, alongside a consortium of local companies handling civil works.

Why It Matters for Skiers and Visitors

By 2030, Cervinia will no longer just be a top ski destination — it will become a symbol of modern Alpine tourism. The Cervino The One ski lift will drastically improve accessibility, enhance comfort, and provide a sustainable model for future mountain transport.

For skiers, this means less time commuting and more time on the slopes. For visitors, it represents an easier and more enjoyable way to discover the beauty of the Alps.

    Final Thoughts

The unveiling of Cervino The One ski lift is more than just the announcement of new infrastructure. It’s a bold vision of the future, blending innovation, sustainability, and Alpine tradition. By 2030, Cervinia will stand at the forefront of world-class mountain resorts, ready to welcome thousands of visitors in a faster, safer, and more comfortable way.

Where tradition meets innovation, the future of Alpine skiing has a new name: Cervino The One.

    See you on the slopes,

  • How to Book a Ski Holiday: Expert Tips for an Unforgettable Winter Vacation

How to Book a Ski Holiday: Expert Tips for an Unforgettable Winter Vacation

When winter approaches, many travelers dream of snowy mountains, thrilling descents, and cozy evenings in alpine lodges. But knowing how to book a ski holiday the right way can make the difference between a stressful trip and an unforgettable experience. Whether you are planning your first winter vacation or you are a seasoned skier, here are the essential tips to make your ski trip perfect.

    1. Choose the Right Time for Your Ski Holiday

Timing is everything. December and January are usually the coldest months, with plenty of snow but also shorter days—the sun often disappears by late afternoon. From March onward, days get longer and temperatures more pleasant, offering more time on the slopes. Interestingly, in the last couple of seasons, March has brought heavier snowfall than January, breaking the old rule that only the deep winter months guarantee the best powder.

If your goal is to avoid the crowds, it’s best to skip peak holiday dates like Christmas, New Year, Half Term, and Easter. However, if what you want is vibrant nightlife and big après-ski parties, then those busy weeks might be exactly what you need.

    2. Pick the Right Ski Resort

Your choice of resort will define the atmosphere of your ski holiday. In Italy, two standout options are Cervinia and Courmayeur.

    • Cervinia Ski Holiday: Perfect if your main focus is skiing and enjoying good food and wine. Cervinia offers wide, sunny slopes, incredible views of the Matterhorn, and a more relaxed atmosphere. It’s not the place for heavy nightlife, but ideal for families and those who value great skiing and fine dining. https://www.cervinia.it/inverno/home
    • Courmayeur Ski Holiday: If you are a more advanced skier or snowboarder and love mixing sports with nightlife, Courmayeur is your best bet. The technical slopes challenge even experienced skiers, and the town itself boasts trendy bars andhttps://www.cervinia.it/inverno/home a couple of excellent nightclubs. It’s a great choice for those who want to balance skiing with stylish evenings out. https://www.courmayeur-montblanc.com/en/

    3. Decide How Early to Book

One of the most common questions is: when is the best time to book a ski holiday? The rule of thumb is: the earlier, the better—especially if you want the best choice of hotels, apartments, or ski chalets. By booking in advance, you can secure lower prices and lock in ski passes before they sell out during high demand weeks.

Last-minute deals do exist, but they are risky, particularly if you are tied to specific dates or traveling with family. For a stress-free experience, plan ahead.

    4. Balance Budget and Comfort

Ski holidays can be expensive, but with smart planning you can keep costs under control. Consider mid-week stays instead of weekends, which often come at premium prices. Package deals including ski passes and rentals can also be more cost-effective than booking everything separately.

If you’re aiming for luxury, resorts like Courmayeur offer stylish hotels and gourmet dining. For a balance of price and experience, Cervinia provides excellent value without compromising on the skiing.

    5. Think About Ski Lessons and Guides

If you are new to skiing or want to improve your technique, booking lessons with a certified ski instructor is a must. Having a professional guide also helps you discover the best slopes suited to your level and even secret off-piste spots if conditions allow. Booking your lessons in advance is as important as booking accommodation, especially during high season.

    6. Don’t Forget Après-Ski and Off-Slope Activities

Skiing is only part of the experience. A successful ski holiday combines time on the slopes with great après-ski moments. Italy is particularly famous for its food culture: enjoy hearty mountain dishes, Italian wine, and relaxing evenings in alpine lodges.

If nightlife is a priority, Courmayeur delivers with stylish bars and clubs. For those who prefer quieter evenings with stunning views, Cervinia is unbeatable.

Final Thoughts: Plan Smart, Ski Better

Knowing how to book a ski holiday means understanding your goals, choosing the right resort, and planning at the right time. Italy offers diverse options for every type of skier: Cervinia for breathtaking slopes and food lovers, Courmayeur for advanced skiers and nightlife fans. By booking early, avoiding peak weeks (unless parties are your priority), and tailoring the experience to your preferences, you’ll set yourself up for a ski holiday that’s as smooth as freshly groomed snow.
